Work and Play at Baker Creek

Spending a couple of weeks up at Baker creek. Ultimately to see the sheepdog trials but working from the valley at 7000 feet not the worst thing either. Lots of bow hunters around the 1st week, and even a few antihunters camping in the closing weekend, so not surprising that we didn’t see many deer or elk but there were some unusual wildlife sightings for the area. Oh, and the sheepdog trials were great this year. [gallery]

Clear and mostly moonless nights, with temps still mild, make for good star gazing.

Cully doubles down on the rawhides, and all is good.

Red still hunting those squirrels and birds. Maybe hiding behind the log will bring them in…

Cully taking a nap in Rosie’s shadow.

Mountain coyote in the meadow is a first up here, really surprising after seeing the red fox in the area earlier.

Bull moose is another rare sighting up here.

Smoke up the valley is picturesque, but a little troubling. Turns out it’s coming from Boise…

Spent several nights waiting to get the straw in the dipper’s cup but the path wasn’t consistent.

Grouse wandered across camp while I was in a meeting, the boys never knew. We did find it in the trees later and Red hesitated when he saw the size.

Hunting coyote pounce just like Cully used to when younger.

The bull down at Silver creek was hiding a little better but grunting so you knew where he was while fishing. We’ll probably get a better view later this month.

Lot of color in the leaves this year.

Slow and bright from one side of the valley to the other. Then it just stopped, need to check when the ISS linkup was.
