Birthday Fishing Trip at Silver Creek

One day of Work and three days of fishing at Silver. Weather was mostly good, but wind did kick up Monday to knock down the bugs, and the fish. A lot of moose around this weekend, and a lot of deer with no bucks (imagine that). Really unbelievable number of pheasant around right now, hearing them all day and night.

Pirates back on the creek

Fall on water

Dogs have rawhides, and nothing else matters.

The deer showed up every morning, and evening, in the nearby alfalfa field.

Cow moose with her calf were always near the patio in the morning. Enjoyed coffee one morning watching the calf chase pheasant and try to play with deer.

Smaller bull’s antlers are looking better every year.

Seemed to grow in number all the time. Collared doe was always there, but no buck in sight.

She was a little touchy about how close you got to her calf, feels better when she goes back to eating.

Bigger bull is maybe not the biggest out here this year, looks worse for the wear from an earlier fight.

Small bull doesn’t seem small until you see them together. No challenge here, smaller one just walked away to eat when he came in. Confirmed neither of these is the bull that was huffing around a few weeks ago…

Although you could hear them all the time, sightings were more rare.

Chase is on. They came though camp on the other side of the campground while I was making dinner that night, and he was still following. By the way, those fence post come up to my 6’4” chest…

The other kind of fall color.

Sunsets were as colorful as always.

Sunrise could be pretty good too.
